CONCERTS

musical events with added meaning

New England Jazz Connections (NEJC) was founded in the summer of  2020, a time when  the COVID-19 pandemic had caused large parts of society to shut down completely, including the live music industry. This period was also a time of great conflict and division in the US; the social divisions in the US were exacerbated by the disruption and isolation caused by the pandemic.

But musicians didn't stop playing, composing, and creating; we got together on porches, in backyards, and driveways. And we didn't stop fighting for the causes we believe in.

This led NEJC to the idea of staging what we've termed 'micro concerts'. Small, outdoor, socially distanced gatherings where musicians play a set of music to raise money for a cause we believe in. In the fall of 2020, NEJC host roughly 20 shows around New England, and raised over $12,000 for worthy causes.

We have since continued and expanded our mission, putting on concerts in a variety of settings for a variety of causes. Please see our events page for a list of current events.

If you're a musician or a non-profit, and this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, get in touch. If you have a space and would like to host a concert, great, we'd love to talk to you! Please click the appropriate button above, fill out the short questionnaire, and we will be in touch. Thank you!

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Geri Medina, JP/Roxbury Mutual Aid

One of my favorite pandemic moments was going to your backyard jazz session. Thank you again on behalf of

JP/Roxbury Mutual Aid

Bethan Steward, host

The wind was blowing, the leaves were dancing and jazz flowed through it and into the neighborhood. Folks were hanging out on their balconies and sitting spaced out in our backyard. It was particularly poignant when afterwards some of the elderly people who live on our street thanked me with tears in their eyes. We all needed something to draw us together and that afternoon was such a gift of beauty and love in the middle of a difficult time.
